Help me decide: Twin 32" ellipticals or Standard Perf Package?

I'm pretty sure I have a 15.5 x 17P.

Don't know whether a 4 blade would help or not as I do t know how your boat is performing, especially with the I/O. There are so many things involved in getting the right prop. Four blades do tend to give you a better hole shot and better bite, how ever they also cause a little more drag. I wanted power and hole shot due to almost always having a good load on the boat and still wanting to ski with said load. Had to give up a little top end, but the performs exactly as I want it to. Basically, if your boat is lacking in a area of performance, then maybe you would want to look at repropping it.

I went back with a 13 pitch 4 blade with aggressive cupping. With a 115 I would think a 13 would be right as well. The diameter and cupping make a lot of difference and are just as important. I went with "Power Tech" props. They have been a outstanding company to work with. If you call them and tell them what your current boat, motor and prop is, then tell them what you want out of a prop change, they will recommend the prop for your needs. The BEST thing with them is that if the prop doesn't work like you expected, they will let you send it back for another with only a restocking fee. I doubt this happens as they got mine right the first time. Also be sure you get the "cushion lock hub" system for their hub as it greatly reduces the stainless backlash problems with the new four stroke engines.
Power Tech's website says to decrease pitch 1-2 inches if your prop has extra cupping. That explains a lot of the difference, as you said.

If you decide to change, give them a call before you buy and let them know what your performance is now and what you want it to do and they will help you decide what to buy. They will want all your boat, motor and prop specs as well as what speed and rpm's your turning currently. They are really good at what they do.

Ok you guys have me really interested now that you're talking about props. I have an I/O (see full description at the end of this post of my boat) with a 3 blade stainless prop....I want to say 15.5 x (???). Would going to a 4 blade be in my interest?????
Very few pontoons are running quads. And if you notice on the manufacturers' performance tests on pontoons/tritoons, they're running 3 bladed props. I think that most 4 bladed props are for bass boats looking for acceleration and mid range power.

I bought a Power Tech 4 bladed stainless steel for our I/O last year. I called them and they recommended the size. I have been very happy with it. It has increased the hole shot and lets me cruise at 200-400 less rpm at the same speed. Went from 3200-3400 to 3000 rpm. It is great for tubing. It is also great for the debris we have in the lake this year. We hit several sticks/logs yesterday and no damage to the blades

I knew it would give me more hole shot but what did it rob you off of your top end? I will eventually do some tubing behind it one year (when my 18 month old twins are old enough :) ) but until then, the faster the better. Hence the "Full Throttle" name on the back of my boat.

We lost 1 mph top end. We almost never cruise that fast. It is too windy for people to enjoy themselves. If you want top speed the I/O is the wrong choice. The C/G is too far forward to get the toons out of the water for max speed. I propped it to have 10 people on the boat and pull tubers at speed.

Well I dunno....I have an I/O with lifting strakes and my wife and neighbors say when they see me at WOT the front of my toons are above the water. Still, that's impressive that you only lost 1mph at your top end speed for everything else you gained..

With the I/O you will get the front of the toon out of the water. There is a performance review of CCAN's boat with a big outboard (Yammi, I think) In the picture, 50/60% of the toons are out of the water. His boat does 53 MPH. The O/B C/G is further back and you can leverage the toons out of the water. The O/I's are not the top speed kings. I got passed by a 22' Bennington last year with a 200 O/B on it. It pissed me off till I realized I can have 10 people on the boat and still tube my son-in-law. If you want 50 mph top speed you will need a supercharger or the new 8.2 liter Benningtons.
