Well now I'm in a conundrum! As some of you know, I got bumped from my courier job a while back, and in a few weeks we will lose a company that makes up about 30% of our rural freight, which is what our whole depot is made up of. So now I'm unsure on what may become of my job here. I'm TOLD I will still be kept on, but this leads to the fact that probably me getting back a day job is not in the cards for 8-10 years, if everything continues on this path. I'll have to wait until someone retires.
So then I get a call from a private courier company that wants me to work for them, decent money (a little less than my two jobs combined) but days. Problem is no pension, and no benefits yet. We are trying to work out the benefits part, but the scariest thing is the unknown!
The new job doesn't really have everything figured out, and the boss talks a good game about what he expects of me and so on, but it's the unknown growth possibility or loss possibility that means talk is cheap. Being private, there is no security, although in the past 7 months I've lost most of my sense of security in my current job too.
I just keep saying that at least I'll be working days, doing what I enjoy, and that is worth a lot. Regardless of my enjoyment, the bank still wants money. I hate change, except in boats, and can't make decisions, so this is a really rough time! On the one bright side, or dark side, the stress of it all leaves me not hungry or sleeping, so I weigh less than I did 12 years ago!
