With the Air temps below 90, and water at a chilly 75 - we put the Benny away for the season... Thank you Havasu for another amazing summer. Now, some family events cut our boating down by half this year, and the Benny sat in the water for almost 2 months. 35mph was max with the layer of Toon algea, after a quick (15 minute 2 people) wipedown with our cleaning pads, we popped back up to 40mph, just below our typical 42mph (47mph with a tail wind....LOL). The 6 month countdown begins......

When we kept our boat in the water we made it a point to clean the toons every time we went out! We would have lunch in a No Wake cove someplace and then get in and start wiping. This way we didn't let it accumulate and they stayed clean!

100% - that is exactly what we do. The interesting observation we had this year regarding Sharkhide (Factory Applied). For the first 2 years of ownership wiping down the toons required minimal effort. The 3rd year we noted a significant increase in effort. Before our 4th season, we had a local detailer apply a different "superior" product, it only lasted one year, the 5th season (2nd with this new coating) it was again noticeably harder to wipe down the toons. In part, I think this might have been because the underside did not really get re-coated. This year, I am looking for a detailer that has the right equipment to lift the Benny to apply Sharkhide again, to the outer, inner and bottom of all the toons. No luck so far, but continue my search.....

Our dealer in Virginia and my current dealer here has equipment where you back your trailer underneath it and it'll pick your boat up by the deck where you'll have full access to all 3 toons for Sharkhide application. My marina also has 2 forklifts that will also lift them for full access. Check with your local dealer or one of the marinas on Havasu if they can help you....

Air temps below 90?? That pretty much describes 95% of my boating season.

Btw, for you thin-bloods, a nice sweater might extend your season once temperatures plunge below 90. lol!

I was like 90°. I’d be spending every waking moment possible out at that temp.
