Picked up my parents new 21SSRCX yesterday evening and was looking it over this morning on the trailer. While underneath I noticed there is a splash shield on the starboard stern side but not on the port stern side. Is this normal?

Do you have any pictures of what you are referring to ? Mine are on the bow ./gallery/album_351/gallery_4015_351_442838.jpg

I have a picture but can't get it compressed enough to upload. I may be calling it the wrong thing but it's an aluminum sheet that covers about 4' of the bottom back near the transom. Just seems odd that it's on one side and not the other.

I think you are taking about a sheet of metal that is on the port side of the stern. I have the two toon, so the distance in there is greater. My shield has a square cut out of it for access to things just above it. I would think it's there to protect the fuel line that runs from the filler port to the gas tank. Mine is larger than 4", though. Mine is, just a guess since I'm not home, around a couple of feet or more. Without this, the lines would hand down, being vulnerable to the water splashes and more powerful waves.

I think mines the same way. I believe it's to protect the motor linkage cables.

Thanks all. This makes sense now. The fuel filler is on the drivers (starboard) side of theirs so I'm guessing it's protecting the fuel line as well as the throttle and steering cables.

FYI: Search for the posts about how to post pictures.  Trying to compress and post just doesn't work well, and a totally useless expectation for those on mobile devices.

Here is what I do based on advice from others on this site:

1) Upload pictures to Photobucket - had to start up a free account.

2) Click on picture in Photobucket; click on upload/copy options, click on "direct" copy option, not the other three options

3) In my Bennington forum post, click on the "Insert other media" button on the bottom left of your post just above the "Submit Reply" button

4) Choose "Insert Image from URL" option

5) Paste Photobucket link into the space provided and click "Insert into post"

A silly process involving way too many steps, but it gets the job done. There are also ways to do it from your forum "Gallery".  At least for me, trying to post pictures to my "Gallery" on my mobile devices just doesn't work.

Unfortunately, I do all pictures, social media from moble devices.  I haven't used our desktop or my laptop for such things in years.

Thanks for this. I don't post pictures very often and usually it's quite a pain.

On my iphone if I just past the photobucket link in my reply it will automatically show up without having to do steps 3-5 above.

I am trying this next time. This would speed it up a little bit. Thanks!  :)
