Is this the nut you speak of that would need some slight tightening??

just wanted to check in and see if Rattletrap or anyone else can confirm if the nut the arrow is pointing too in the picture above is the right one....

I'm having the same trouble with keeping the throttle maintaining the consistent speed while cruising. Fixing to do some research.

Yes, that is the nut.

  my outboard is a Mercury, not a Yamaha.  not sure if the little plastic cover is there or not.  I will check it out tomorrow when I get to he boat.
