Your SHO 115 has a 6300 rpm rev limit, so your going to add 35 hp within the same rpm range? A stock 150 is 163 cu in and the 115 SHO is 106 cu in. Make sure you wear protective gear for the back of your head and neck to protect you from the rod caps coming through the front of the cowling when that engine grenades. LOL.. Good luck!

Hey Barbarian welcome!

First off, make sure all maintenance is up to snuff.

Second make sure the hull is clean of crud since that will sap power and make for a bad prop decision.

Third, don't mention the "f" word, as tuning is taboo in certain forums.

Fourth, know your baseline. Is this hull, engine and options combo a 30mph boat stock? 35? 25? Some good resources ou there including on this forum, just need to do a search.

If everything is good and accounted for, new prop selection really depends on your goals. Top speed? Holeshot for towing tubes? Fuel efficiency and range? Different prop geometries and manufacturers for each desired outcome. My goal was a blend of all of the above but with a bias towards top speed, and it took 3 different props and engine height adjustment to get dialed in. Also what is your budget and tolerance for trial and error?

Getting a better prop than your current one likely won't be a chore, but if you want to get that last 25% out of your setup it could some time and a few $$$.

The most important information you need is what is your Wide open throttle (WOT) RPM's and speed at WOT. If your RPM's are much lower than OEM specs, then you are leaving performance on the table, same if you are too high.
 
My first post on here so take it easy on me. Just joined the Bennington family this week with a used 2018 SX22. It has a 115 SHO. I’ve asked the dealer what prop to start with and their reply was “it’s a toon not a bass boat.” Just not my style to leave anything on the table. I’ve been squeezing everything I could out of every single boat I’ve owned since my first 14’ Jon boat and 20hp over 40 years ago. Y’all sound like a smart group so hopefully someone can help me at least get started in the right direction on a prop. Current prop is some little aluminum prop so it’s not going give me much useful information. Previous owners only used in a private subdivision lake where they lived. 15mph was probably a quick trip.
Many of us are running the Turning Point 13.5X15 4 blade prop on the VF115. I tried the 17" 4 blade and it was to much prop for the VF115. Thinking about going to the stainless version of it. I been burning through a aluminum prop every season.

Todd, are you happy with the Turning Point 13.5x15-4 blade? Curious what your average top speed is and what you consider your cruise speed and rpm’s are?
 
I went with a Powertech SS 13.25x15 -3 blade ‘Red’ prop. It’s just one of their average all around performance props. Figured good place to start, but I have no reference point. Just got my boat delivered yesterday so only took it out once, but I think I’m ok with what I saw. Consistent 36mph at 6100 rpm and easy cruise in 26-28mph range at 4700-5000 rpm. This is with 2 people and an absolute full to the rim gas tank. I had dreams of maybe touching 40, but knew that was probably a pipe dream with the smaller motor.

Wow, I think that is excellent performance, what model is your boat and is it tritoon or pontoon?
 
I have a 2018 and on the registration is labeled as a 22 SSRXP. Not really sure what those letters mean. It has the 2 3/4 toons. I think Bennington calls it Express Performance Package, but I’m in the kindergarten learning stage. And I’m pretty sure it has the wave shield. I also had both bimini’s on the boat. They weren’t extended, but were rolled up in the lifted position. Once we get through this weekend, I should be much lighter on gas and I’ll remove the front Bimini entirely and lay the back one down and who knows I might get to quick tap that 40 with a tail wind. Lol. Just having fun.
