Pontoon protection Metal Jacket XL

Well mine was about $4000 here in Charlotte area and they did an excellent job. I had them do a few other things so it may have been $3800 for just that. Tax included.

Im expecting it to be in that neighborhood.

Did the scuff your toons ?
How do they look now ?

Jack
I will find out if they scuffed them. The coating is the entire toon so not just under and near water line. I will take before and after pictures when I clean them this weekend. The first real test of how they clean up. As you can see in the pics from the lake when I did my one quick clean at the sand bar this summer I thought they cleaned up great for a scrub brush and a 45 minutes of cleaning.

Other than having it reapplied every other year, I'm happy with the sharkhide. I try to wipe mine down once a week at the sand bar. Weather and idiots permitting. When that boat starts rocking when Im under is not a good feeling.

Given that it will need to be reapplied, I wonder if we would be better off painting the tunes for those of us who have lifts or Sea Legs?

Jack
Yes they do scuff the toons to better adhesion.
Pbakk
If I had Sea Legs or a lift I would have polished the toons for my purposes as it would not "stay" in the water like mine does.

Do any scratches show after they scuffed it ?
I was told they would probably use steel wool on mine .

I will say, other than where my toons got scraped or scuffed from dock/dealer/bumpers, SHARKHIDE is still protecting SINCE 2017 above the water line!!!! Toons still look like the day we picked it up.

OK my apologies to all, I did get the Hull Jacket installed not the XL. Guess i should read my invoices better :)
I have been talking to Frank at S-G Marine ,from what he is telling me it sounds like they send someone out to apply the Hull Jacket .
Did they send someone to your dealer or did your dealer do the application ?

Jack
I actually do not know. The boat cleaned up amazing with just a scrub brush, some elbow grease and the cleaner Frank recommended. I had the dealer do that as I want to see how the entire area of the toons would clean up and needed it lifter to do that. That was after a year on only one partial scrubbing on the areas easily accessed on the sandbar. I did not do a great job of keeping up with it but even that one clean up was easy. There is a small area that the finish lifted and S-G will reapply for at no cost. Interesting as it is about one square foot of the entire application. I will see if they sent someone but I know the dealer I used has done several here in the Charlotte area.

Thanks , Frank said that may hold me up from having it applied .
Im going the dealer in an hour or so to find out .
But that figures, Im ready to have it applied and they can't do it.
