Purchased a 24 SSL

Hello forum! My wife and I just purchased (yet to be delivered) our first Bennie, a 24 SSL with a Yamaha 115, X rails, snap in carpet, etc.

A lot of kids get their first car around 15 years old, I got my first boat (a Glasstron GT160 a 16' with a Merc 110). Since that time I have had many boats up to 48 feet and as sleek and fast as 116 mph. Even had a JC Tri-toon I/O which I did not care for at all.

It is time to slow down and relax. My wife and I just sold a 24 foot deck boat and bought this Benny rear lounger. Back to an easy to care for outboard Kids are out the house, time to relax and watch the world go by. We can't wait to test out the rear lounger, it's our time to relax.

But Steve: How can I stop by for a beverage if I don't know what lake you're going to be boating on.

I especially like the 24 SSL model--with the rear facing lounge seats. I think it's going to be a very popular combination.

Remember, we like good pictures. We'd also be interested in what speeds your 115 hp motor will produce. Did you go tritoon with strakes, or eliptical toons with strakes?

You can find us on Lake Murray SC. No fancy logs just a simple two tube boat. Most of our running will be at 10mph or less. We will hopefully pull some grand kids one day one day tubing(maybe our children will read this ) Until then, we are cruising to a favorite spot and floating the day away. After delivery and some break in I'll post speed & rpm on the two tube version.

Just ordered a B'ington ourselves. Probably 8-10 weeks in the making. Guess we are old enough for a pontoon boat now. When it comes to those Grandkids, be careful what you wish for. Babysit the dogs, babysit the cats, babysit the baby....I'm ready for a 5th wheel, or at least a 5th.

Steve: You're so fortunate to have such a great lake in the middle of Lexington/Columbia, SC. Sounds like a nice place to listen to an away "Carolina" football game on the radio on a Fall Saturday afternoon--eating Maurice's barbeque with the mustard sauce.

There are just so many "lake cities" throughout the southeast that are reached so easily:

Nashville--Percy Priest and Old Hickory Lakes

Charlotte--Lake Norman

Birmingham--Smith Lake, Logan Martin Lake, Martin Lake

Atlanta--Lake Lanier and Allatoona Lake

Little Rock--Arkansas River, Greers Ferry, Lake Ouachita, Lake Catherine

Jacksonville--the St. John River system

Orlando--lakes at the end of every street

Greenville, SC--Lake Keowee and Hartwell

Richmond--James River/Chesapeake Bay backwaters

And, many other cities have lakes very close by.

I guess recreational lakes is one thing the government has provided--included with providing sources for good fresh water to feed the cities.

Looking at a 5th wheel too, never had an rv but it's been a thought. Maybe you're right, careful for what I wish for. Now about that other fifth... maybe a single malt scotch?

Congrats on your 14th National Championship. You guys have a awesome team.... I think any NFL team would be well served to take your entire defense! Yep, we are very lucky to have Lake Murray on our back yard. I grew up on the lake and have I seen many changes over the last 55+ years. I have photos from the late 50's of me and my family cruising around on a Owens cabin cruiser. Not a house in site! The marina was one single dock (no slips) and one gas pump at the waters edge.

Steve L: I'm also a RV owner, and spent this morning with my RV salesman. He was telling me about a 2007 model 5th wheel that he traded for on the sale of an Allegro motor home. He also took in a 07 F350 Lariat that's the nicest truck he's ever seen.

The trailer came out of a farmer's barn in Lynchburg, Tennessee, and it's absolutely like new. It can be bought in "the 20's." The dealership is Bankston Motor Homes in Huntsville, and the salesman is Bob Hill.

If you're looking for a good 5th wheel, this would be a very good one. Unfortunately, I forgot the model name--but it's one of the major manufacturer's unit. If you will notice, 5'ers quickly go the $45 to $55K range, so this trailer appears to be a very good buy.

Bob is a triple first class salesman, and Bankston is a very well known, established RV dealership (300+ units on the ground.)

I would jump on this 5th wheel, but I've first got to get a new Bennington 24SSL in my boathouse, and my wife's still hitting me up for that danged 3 carat solitaire ring. She's still mad about the new Waverunner last year and two used ATV's we bought this year. A ring is just not so much fun.

We were looking at a class A for almost a year, then I suddenly decided a fifth wheel looked great. Then my wife points out we need something to tow it with :unsure: We looked at pontoons about a year ago too... got the pontoon B)

Now about that diamond ring thing I do have a great hook up with that... really; my family was in the diamond wholesale business for almost 50 years. Still have the very inside track, let me know if I can help in anyway (Swiss watches too).
