Hello we are new here.
I hit a tree on my 2018 Bennington Pontoon boat. It damaged the back rest port side of the bench lounger and a small section of the aft rail. I’ve tried reaching out to the dealer for the fabric , color and manufacture of both damaged pieces. They want to sell me the entire side of the rail and skin wrap which both are very expensive. I have someone who is top notch welder that could fix the aft rail. I am a retired inspection welder and very impressed with the quality of Benningtons welding. My guy could do it. Also I am having someone do the upholstery work (yellow highlight in photo). I just need advice on how to get the OEM parts that greatskipper can’t help me out with and the dealer being unresponsive. I’ve contacted Bennington in Elkhart IN which has been somewhat helpful. Still waiting for answers. Do you have any suggestions?

2018 , it should be Simtex fabric
Here is the phone number for Simtex 800 247 9901 ( Spradling )

You're Welcome . Bennington would know for sure ,but you mentioned you already spoke to them .
I dont know if you called or emailed them .Their phone number is 888 906 2628. Have your Hull ID if you call.
Good Luck .

Thank you again. I was emailing the service manager at Bennington who provided his phone number. I will give them a call tomorrow when they are open. You’re a big help.

In those photos that looks nothing like Simtex to me. Either way, just cut a piece and send it to the company or place you plan to order from for accurate color and product matching.

I thought by 2018 it was all Semtex, but I kinda agree with Nautical here. Always hard to tell in pictures, but both the design and the material looks like the previous style marine vinyl before they switched to Semtex. Are you the original owner? Any chance it was a special order non-Semtex?

No not the original owner. There is a flyer in the paperwork that says surlast but I am not sure if that’s for the Bimini.

Looks like soft touch vinyl to me. What model boat? I believe it’s Affluence that was available in 2018.

Its a SX 20. Bennington told me it was Sandstone purchased at Spradling. (didn't help me at all with that info) I then called Spradling where Bennington purchased the fabric-material and they told me they don't have Sandstone listed. Someone has the boat specifications listed when that boat was built in 2018 and trying to get that information is like pulling teeth. The dealer doesn't reply, Bennington gives me indirect information.

My advice would be go to a recommended upholstery shop and get their advice on a repair. No fabric is going to match 6 year old seats. Do something fun and change the look of the damaged area. In 2016 we could not get matching fabric for a 2015 model Bennington. I gave up and the shop repaired it with contrasting material. It still look great.

This is an important and overlooked point so far in this thread. I hate to echo it for the OP, but this is spot on!!! We keep our 2017 completely covered unless in use. It has NEVER sat uncovered unless we are using it. We have 248 hours on the motor, not sure how many hours lounging around with motor off or on a sand bar these last couple years.

I had not at all appreciated how much our seats had faded. We have a bow filler seat we never ended up using. We put it in our finished garage as a seat in there. For kicks I put it out on the boat in 2023(?) to see how the fabric looked. My wife and I were shocked at how faded (evenly and not noticed over time by us) our seating had become. The bow filler seat really stuck out as much darker because it had been indoors its entire existence beyond our first trip on the boat in 2017.

If I can find the pictures I took, I will add them in here for reference.

Thank you for the advice. I just went to an upholster and he recommended a marine vinyl color. Getting it done after boat season is over (winter).
