be glad you didn't get the heavy duty rub rail horror stories galore. A; the slightest bump pops the rubber insert out of the rail...B; the rubber is very prone to mildew, .need I say more
I was never a fan of a rubber rub rail especially on my center console boats. It bends just as easy as anything else, popped out in places (there was a recall on the fuel pump when I bought my wellcraft and it wouldn't run under 2000 rpm. Try docking that and not bumping into something). Plus the edges where it was intergrated with the hull always had some sort of alge or dirt and funk in it. Could never keep the creases and seams clean. The SS rub rail I have scratches easy but cleans up nice and shiny with some elbow grease
Look up a company called 'Taco' on the web. it's not a joke, I was looking at some of their aftermarket rub rails and they looked nice and also easy to install.
