Stereo Upgrade - Amp & Sub: SubWoofer Design & Installation

One is mounted verticle under the helm. The 2nd one is mounted lay down under the rear bench seat inside the boat. My boat is a r23 swingback
Pics? I have the same boat.. what year? . Was it hard to run the additional wiring to the switch back from the helm? I wanted to avoid putting a sub in the helm in fear of breaking something from the bass.. do your rear switchback speakers light up?

Ill have to dig through my phone but I believe I have some pics. My boat is a 2021 my rear speakers light up but they only light up when the exterior leds are on.

Pics would be awesome.. so they dont light with the other interior speakers? You have to turn on exterior lights?

I guess I am torn between the Kicker 8" tube in 4 ohms or the 10" tube in 2 ohms... its possible the 8" will fit in the existing sub location under the front seat.. whereas the 10" will need to go under the switchback but I need to figure out how to run the speaker wire there. I cant do the 8" 2ohm because the amp is rated at 400w@2ohms or 200w@4ohms which is to much for the speaker

I’ll have to climb into my shrink wrapped boat tomorrow and grab some pics for you. I need to plug my battery tender in anyways.

Lol... didn't find any on your phone? Did you do the wiring yourself? Is it hard to wire speakers wire from the helm to the Switchback? I think i prefer the 10" 2ohm but want to put it under the switchback... then disconnect the front one.

I think rewiring the rear switchback speakers is going to be rough...

So that is probably a 10", car sub - the seat opening is 11.75". My research suggests you are losing a LOT of bass due to the energy the roto-molded seat bases absorb. You get a significant improvement if moved to the helm or SB, but then it will get wet...but maybe worth the test. Maybe you could figure out some plastic footings you could use???

The sub you are looking at is again a car system, not really made for the marine environment. https://www.kicker.com/marine-subwoofers
Look at the two enclosures at the bottom of this page - high-priced, reasonable-priced, and I have not found a single bad thing about those tub subs.

So its probably best to just get the 10" tube..
