Took the plunge, Ordered a 21SLX SPS 150hp (w/a couple questions)

Yeah probably should. If I don't it would be like getting a sports car without z rated tires...

That's the spirit.....

Don't want to get too far off topic, but speed limits on a lake?  Is this common, we don't have speed limits where I live.  Is it a small lake or just a Nanny type of State?  I hate it when our government starts making all these rules and laws, local, State or Federal.

Our lake doesn't impose speed limits other than the typical 5 mph in no wake zones in some of the bays or under one bridge that is a little low.  Nearby Lake George, a very popular large lake 32 miles long [very expensive homes] has a maximum speed limit of 45 mph throughout the lake

I guess if it is a high traffic area they have to do something for safety.  I just hate it when a handful of non responsible boaters ruin it for everyone.  Some people should just not have some of these high powered boats.

We have some smaller lakes with local speed limits, controlled hours for skiing/"fast" boating, as well as rules for direction of flow. Basically, no wake during certain daylight hours and obviously at night too. They're not state mandates though.

I live in a private lake community. We have a what is considered a small lake. It can get very congested at times and for various safety reasons a speed limit is enforced by our own lake patrol. We have a long list of rules we must follow... But at least they look the other way when we booze cruise (as long as you are not reckless)...

I'm pretty sure lakes in michigan do have a 55 mph speed limit unless changed locally. Our township "zones" most lakes to "no wake" from 7:30 pm overnight to10:30 am. Our lake is only around 490 acres I think there is only 1 bigger in the township. I really don't worry about it with my 50hp motor. We also kayak so the quiet times are nice for that and fishing.

To answer your questions:  I think I saw someone the other day saying he received the F150B new model engine when his boat arrived.  There are relatively few differences in the two motors--distinguishable by the rounded cowling.  But I'd prefer to get the new model engine if it was available.

The dealers get a substantial price reduction on motors bought through Bennington on a fleet discount--vs. their buying the motors directly from Yamaha.  Sometimes the motor comes in separate of the boat, too.

The F150A runs just as good as the F150B.  Just make sure your dealer puts a Reliance 15 pitch prop on your boat.  You'll probably be good for 41-42 mph with that.

My boat's going to be 3 years old in July, and going out of warranty.  I get a mailing every week from Yamaha offering me 1-2-3 years extended service plan for $800/$1200/$1500.  Since my boat's never seen the dealer's shop, I'm going to live dangerous--and rich.

I agree

I got the 14 1/2 x 15 reliance SDS prop!
