So I have run the idea by the wife of adding a third log to our 22SSX. Really like the idea of the increased handling and buoyancy to help with planing and rougher water. She is all for it especially if we can add the in the floor storage. So my question is now that this will be an aftermarket add-on, what would be the best config for the additional log since we have standard ones on the outside, eliptical? standard? and would they be able to add the in floor storage or no?

This more than likely would not be done until the end of the season so that I could minimize downtime during our first summer of enjoying the boat.

Thanks guys!

David, David,David, what are you thinking! Have you not read Derricks posts? Just order the Q with the sport tower and the 300 hp with all the bells and whistles and be done with it! ;)

Ok, back to reality here, i think you should enjoy the boat you have this year, and consider trading up to what you want over the off season. The third tube with in floor storage is going to be a major job, and once you've done that, you are

going to want a bigger engine, more money, and then what's next?

With low hours, and being only 1 yr old, your current boat should give you a very good trade in value, and you will end up with what you want with way fewer headaches.

I agree with the above post, If you simply wanted to add a 3rd tube it wouldn't be bad but add the ESP tube with in floor storage adds a lot of work if it could actually be done. I am not sure if they offer a standard 25inch tube with storage inside, maybe someone else could pipe in on that one.

I would run the boat as is as well. We have .7 hrs on ours and the wife has already said... we should have got the 24 (I looked over and some how Derricks voice was coming out of my wifes mouth. I nearly jumped over board). I then reminded her, then we would have got the 150, some sort of performance toons... thus $$$$. I think she is back down to reality that our boat is plenty for two and a dog with the occasional family/friends over. Damn human nature, we always want more and easily take for granted what we already have. I'd love Derricks old boat, the 2012 one, not the soon to be replaced 2013. (it is wasn't for the deck, kitchen, basement) all being finished in the last year I probably would have bought an R. Oh well, the house is worth a lot more than I paid for it now

Agreed, hence why I was thinking 1500 to 2k for an upgrade is a far better option than pulling a Derrick next season and dropping a kidney off at the bank for a Q or R. I think I may have just coined a new forum term....."pulling a Derrick" lmao :)

or PAD (pulled a Derrick, pulling a Derrick) for short. Now when people get a new boat within, lets say 18 months of getting their old one they can just start a thread " I just pad'd myself"

I actually looked into this further and there are symptoms such as IWS (irritable wife syndrome, brought on my your constant talk about towers, options, etc) BSP (backup sleeping plans, you already know what friends will take you in on their couch when you do pull the trigger on the new boat. And last but not least. P.E.N.I.S envy (see below)

You guys crack me up ...... :D

Wow, I'm not even a person anymore, I'm a phrase. haha, kinda funny though, I started reading, saw my name, kept reading, saw my name again, kept reading, and there it was again! Funny stuff! Oh, and my 'old' boat is still for sale, heck of a fuel bill to come and get her though!

Oh and Andy, I think that if you tell someone you just pad'd yourself, they might look at your crotch, maybe not the best usage of the term! haha

Now, back to the topic, since I have A LITTLE experience in this particular field, I would probably agree in the trade up. You should still hold a good value on yours, I would even go so far as to talk to your dealer and let him know that you were thinking of it, put it in his ear that if he has a 2013 left at the end of the year that is an upgrade (something you like obviously) that you would consider trading yours in and taking it off his hands end of year. Dealers usually like to get some of their bigger priced units out the door so they arent sitting on the dollars over the winter months. Not to mention if he happens to have a customer come in that is looking for what you have and he doesnt have one sitting there, he can always look at selling yours and moving you up. Adding the third toon with storage I don't even think is an option, and if it were, it would be expensive! The third toon without storage definitely more do-able. Just my thoughts.

Anyone with the two 25" toons can add a 3rd toon of the Express Tube Package with lifting strakes very easily. You'd also do best to add the waveshield if it's not on the boat already.

But of course it'd be a waste of money without 90 horsepower, but preferably 115 or 150 hp motors.

Dealers can order the 3rd toon, and it'd be shipped with another incoming boat for installation.

Oh and Andy, I think that if you tell someone you just pad'd yourself, they might look at your crotch, maybe not the best usage of the term! haha
That's what makes the term really work, because when they look at your crotch you say, what the hell are you looking at? I told just told you I bought a new boat! Freak!

The upgrade thing is a constant nag. we just upgraded to a express package 2375 gcw with 150 from a 2575 rl with 115 and it is way above my expectations. we took it out for a ride last night and it handles like a runabout with the ride of a pontoon. wow that said I have been thinking of an esp with the 250. ouch I DONT EVEN WANT TO SAY THAT OUTLOUD. ok too late wish me luck. it is human nature to look for more. my advice keep your new boat and enjoy it for at least a season. we had ours for 6 years and just succumbed to temptation this year. good luck and happy boating

You are actually closer to me than the dealer I just bought mine from... Just a few days late
Where the heck are you BenB? Oh, and my dealer will take yours on trade! Haha

I have done some whitetail hunting outside of Minot! Small world, have a friend out there I go hunting with from time to time. Some monster bucks out there!

We (my wife and I) usually go hunting in the Badlands. We love it down there.

Some nice Pronghorns out there as well! Would love to get out there and stick a couple with the bow.

I hunt for the meat, I have friends who hunt for the horns, I ask them every single year if they have found a recipe to make those worthless antlers taste good yet and get the usual MEH! response every year. lol.
