If anyone has a West Marine near them ,they filed for bankruptcy last week and have some good prices on accessories and other items.
 
Wow - they are such a major dealership group. Surprised to hear this. There is one between us and “the D” downstate.
 
We have one in Petoskey ,about 24 miles from us . Ive gotten many things from them
 
Given that they were acquired by private equity, they probably had significant debt and any retail hiccup might have put them in a risky position. Just guessing, I don’t have firsthand knowledge.

From what I understand they are closing 59 stores across 23 states, but the remaining brick and mortar stores will remain open and so will their online sales. Its a basically a major restructure of its business model.

West Marine is not going out of business, but the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May 2026 to restructure its debt and stabilize operations. While day-to-day operations continue uninterrupted, West Marine is closing 59 of its underperforming retail locations across 23 states. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Sadly, I personally think the majority of companies that go through this process, eventually go into full bankruptcy. I think very few survive long-term, ESPECIALLY, specialty stores like a “boating” store.
