Tried to change my prop this past weekend. I have the vmax sho 225. I had a hell of a time trying to get the cotter pin out. I had needle nose pliers and managed to straighten the pin out and pull it halfway out. However, I could not pull it any further and became nervous about not being able to put it back in. It is somewhat difficult because of the limited space inside the hub of the prop. Any ideas or suggestions?

I just gave mine a good pull and always replace it with a new pin that slides in easily. They break pretty easy after being bent back and forth a couple times.

Yeah, cotter pins are cheap. Towing is not. I'd never reuse one.

Yeah, that's exactly what I thought. I would just have a new cotter pin ready. Unfortunately, i did not know this before I started. There is a yamaha video where the guy uses side cutters. I couldn't tell if he had a new pin or not.
