Cleaning Algea off of your Outboard

My Yamaha 115 outboard has been in the water all winter because I was concerned about freezing issues leaving it out of the water. It has gotten pretty gunked up with algea. How do you guys recommend cleaning it once I get it out of the water? I can obviously pressure wash it to knock off...

    Inexpensive Refueling Options

After a number of great responses to my original post, I purchased a "Super Siphon" from Amazon (link below) and used it for the first time this past weekend.  I placed my gas jug onto the rear of the boat on the padded area that covers my battery and changing station.  I was able to empty a 5...

Your example of how they jack the prices up during holiday weekends demonstrates that their pricing is as much about supply and demand as it is environmental insurance as others have mentioned.  Business!

    Inexpensive Refueling Options

I'm going with the Super Siphon and race cans to start out.  Pays for itself in the first couple of uses. I have a 115 hp motor, I've had to fill it up 1 time in less than 4 hours of operation.  I usually am running wide open (25 mph for my setup) from the slip to a beach on the river that we...

Thanks, SemperFi8387, for your feedback.  Lots of good knowledge from you out in the forum.  I'm just a newbie trying to get started and look for ways to use the boat more (and not deter myself).  Seems like you support that as well.

    Inexpensive Refueling Options

Ha!  Ironically, I work for an oil company that owns refineries and produces gasoline.  I have no issue with fuel cost.  In fact, I prefer a rising market (crude and gasoline) as it benefits my business and personal life.  What I don't like is spending $1.50 more per gallon (as of this weekend)...

    Inexpensive Refueling Options

Real simple, but looking for creativity.  I keep my 2011 24 SLi in a slip on our lake, and it pains me to buy marina fuel when I pass an ethanol free gas station 2 min from my slip.   What do do you guys use to get "cheap" fuel out to your boats?  My marina spot is a couple hundred feet from...

    Storing Cover and Poles, etc.

Thanks for the great feedback.  We did as you guys suggested.....folded into 1/4 width, and then we rolled it up. For under the lounger very well.  Polls actually fit under the front bench pretty well.  Glad to be part of this resource of info sharing.  Very helpful to a newbie like me.

Cover Rear of Boat and Motor in Wet Slip

I am a proud new Bennington Owner (new to me).....2011 24' SLi, and I have tons of questions.   I am keeping her in a covered wet slip year round.  I am a little concerned about the rear of the boat being even or slightly past the roof line, and I expect some rain and sun to hit the back side...

    Storing Cover and Poles, etc.

I am a proud new Bennington Owner (new to me).....2011 24' SLi, and I have tons of questions.  I am keeping her in a wet slip year round.  How/where do you store your cover and poles while underway?  I don't want to leave anything at the slip preferably.  What about jackets, boards, ski's...
