    Run time out of water

15 to 20 seconds was enough to damage it. Sorry.

    VHF handheld radios

I carry the Standard HX870.  Never had to use it. I bring it along and usually listen to traffic while we are anchored.

    dry docked because of BIRDS

I just shake my head in disbelief. We have become a nation of pansies. Do what's necessary to enjoy your boat.  If you need to feel morally superior, donate fifty bucks to the Audubon Society.

    Pontoon damage

You have a 7 year or even a 10 year hull warranty. I think you just voided it unless you have the repair done by an authorized Bennington dealer. A breach in the pontoons is something to take very seriously. A pontoon boat has no bilge pumps. If a pontoon fills with water, the boat will...

To Order or Not To Order

And be careful of boats that are ordered late in the model year.  I almost bought a Bennington boat on the dealer lot that showed the boat was ordered in May 2015 but the feature code on the invoice said "serialized for 2016".  It had all the features of a 2015, not a 2016,  but Bennington...

To Order or Not To Order

My two cents.... I like to place a factory order. That way I get exactly what I want and nothing more. Same strategy whether I am buying a new truck or a new boat. I get the dealer to agree to a discount percent off MSRP.  After that, its all about the pickin and the choosin.

    Help with 2016 Bennington 2275GCW- G Series

+1 on the stern lounge upgrade. Last year when I bought my boat, my dealer was very generous and offered to let me configure the boat the way I wanted it and he would order it...no strings attached. He had only one limitation - I had to order it with the stern lounge upgrade. He said that if I...

    New purchase

You're boat is set up similar to my 2016 2275GCW. I have a Yamaha 150 with SPS and a 15x15 SS prop. On a good day with a nice clean bottom, fully trimmed,  I can WOT at 35-36. You should do better since you are a foot shorter and are lighter?  Since you are in salt (like me), you might...

    2275GCW Performance

I just had the local marina haul the boat for a powerwash. There was surprisingly little marine growth on the pontoons. Now the toons are spring clean. Unfortunately the top speed increased only slightly....maybe 1 MPH at WOT. I am left with engine issue or bad prop?

    2275GCW Performance

I guess I agree that marine growth could be the issue. That would certainly be the easiest and cheapest solution to the problem. I plan to pull the boat soon and clean the boat on the trailer with a powerwasher. I am not too sure how well I can clean the toons on the trailer however because of...

What tools do you keep on your boat?

Keep a spare aluminum prop and all the tools necessary to change it. Cotter pins, duckbills, 1 1/16th wrench, etc

    2275GCW Performance

I am disappointed with the performance numbers of my boat. In the spring, on a good day I could hit a top speed of 38-40 MPH.  I know there are a ton of variables (ie. bottom growth) but this decline seems major. I am suspecting that I slightly bent a propeller blade after running in...

Winter Storage .... How much gas to leave in tank?

I WAS a proponent of topping off the tank for the reason stated by mattb. However, with the advent of ethanol gas, I have reconsidered since ethanol absorbs moisture. Even adding stabilizer is not a 100% remedy.  My choice today is to store the boat with empty tanks and fill up with FRESH...

I have 2 fuel options for winter storage. Thoughts?

I am envious. If I had that option, I would do it in a heartbeat. Here in the Peoples Republic of New Jersey, there is no ethanol free gas anywhere. I am told I could get an extra 2-3 MPH with ethanol free gas and much less risk of water in gas.

Do you have a trailer for your Bennington ?

Just bought a trailer last month. I will probably only use it a few times a year... haulout twice a year and for periodic warranty and/or service work. Pontoon boats are not supremely popular in this area...much less a tritoon. Marinas personnel often look down their noses at pontoon boats. When...
