can I replace the factory speakers with JL mx770's or are 650's as big as I can go?

I guess it depends on how much room you have to cut out the hole.

He may be asking if stereo has enough oomph to push larger speakers but I am not a stereo guy....Perhaps he could just copy Bulldogs setup

Normally it's not a problem but you should compare the speakers for their impedance and what they are rated for (watts). The power rating on the new JL's is most likely higher anyways so that shouldn't affect anything. The speakers ohms are more critical. Since I don't know what type the old speakers are and how many you have, I can only give suggestions. For example, if your old speakers are say 8 ohm and the JL's 4 ohm that could produce more of a load on the deck or amp than it could handle. If your old speakers are 4 ohm and the new ones 4 ohm then it's really just a matter of whether you can make the size fit. Enlarging an existing hole, if necessary, is usually pretty simple.

Yeah what he said! ;)
