Greetings from Canada to all members. Just bought my very first 2017 Bennington G23 GSB Twin pontoon with an Evinrude G2 150 H.O. Does anyone out there have the same setup as I do...??? If so how is the ride and handeling being a Two log pontoon.

Welcome Daniel! Be sure to post some pictures when you take delivery. Honestly, I didn't realize you could get that kind of HP on a two log set-up. But I do know that with an Etec she'll have plenty of get up and go!

Welcome and congrats! Does the boat have elliptical tubes and/or lifting strakes?

Welcome aboard !!

Welcome to Bennington. All of your questions can be answered by someone in this group. If you are new to boating take a boating safety course. Enjoy it!

Welcome aboard Daniel. As Cwag suggested lifting strakes and I would also consider underskinning to enhance your ride

Thank you Link. Our pontoon 23 GSB did come with lifting strakes. Not sure what you mean by under skinning and would it affect the 10 year warranty.

Underskinning is an aluminum shield that attaches to the underside of the deck. It prevents waves from banging into the crossbars of the boat. Gives you a much smoother ride. I had it added after I bought my pontoon, did it when we added the express toon and was amazed at what a better ride we had

Thank you Michiman. Yes you can put a 150 HP on a Two Log Pontoon but that would be max power for that model. Will for sure post pictures.

Thank you cwag911. Our 23 GSB has Two 25 inch tubes with lifting strakes, and I was told by a friend that we over powered our Benny and that without a center tube she will only slide when cornering and possibly flip over. You should know that we decided on a G2 150 H.O. Because of the iTrim and the DPS (Dynamic Power Steering) my thought was that I did not want to run a smaller HP motor at 3/4 throttle to get a 20 to 25 mph cruise speed and shorten the life of the motor. The 150 H.O. Will be great on straight runs and we will slow down to a safe turn speed. I hope this makes some sense as it does for me.

Thanks Link. Don’t recall seeing crossbars under the deck but will for sure keep your idea in mind... Much appreciated Link thanks again fellow pontooner.

The two toon will turn flat. I have practiced full power turns with our 22' with 150hp at 65 km. I didn't think you could flip the boat. You certainly could hurt passengers. There is lots of centrifugal force. The boat does not skid in the turn, it turns right now. It will throw a person for one side to the other. Go out and practice.

He doesn't have elips like you do.

Thank you very much Remediation. Good news indeed will for sure practice and get myself comfortable with a speed that feels safe for me and our riders. Not really wanting to do high speed turns but need to be comfortable to execute if the need arises.

Hi Link, just wanted to let you know that I fired off an email to my dealer regarding your suggestion of under skinning. We take delivery of our 23 GSB this coming May 2018 and have time to consider your suggestion. If you feel you have any other ideas that would help our first pontoon experience to be better please feel free to recommend. I have done a lot of thinking on this but being a first timer I welcome these kinds of ideas.

Here are some pic’s Link of our new ride still at the dealership getting rigged. Enjoy
