Of course the Lake will not freeze due to warm day time temps

But with the Yamaha F90 being in the water during these night time temps

Should I Be Concerned

Keep in mind here at the Lake

That 37 on Saturday could be 33 easily !

Any thoughts?

We actually had two pontoons stay in the water all winter here ( INSANE )

I will be interested to see if they will run this summer.

Those temps would be considered normal summertime where I am at. I would only get concerned if it drops into the low 20s. Your water temps must be in the 50 degree range.

If you're worried, keep the motor shaft down in the water those nights. The warm water (relatively speaking) will certainly keep the motor from freezing.

Was concerned about water in motor freezing

I will place shaft back in water , normally I always keep it up at the dock

I couldn't imagine

Too cold for those summer nights

With cold weather on my mind

How many in the North use Dock Bubblers to prevent damage due to freezing during the winter months?

Lake Association is kicking around the idea of maintaining the Lake depth this year

Without lowering as they have since we bought here

Has to do with the sportsmen and the fish

If they maintain depth I will need to protect dock

Either add the floats to pull out all together or add Bubblers

Pros and cons

Bring the boat down here and I'll watch it and exercise it until it warms up for you. No sense risking it.

That is funny lol

Waited too long to have it here

Can't do without it now

Just gave away the other pontoon above

Wouldn't want to upset the wife

Did you leave her on it when you gave it away?

I would be lost without her

I hope the mooring cover lasts long

They are not cheap to replace

Already has a snap missing due to Dealers Delivery of Benny

Actually, if I recall correctly, if you put the motor "up" the majority of water drains out from the motor (benefit of the outboard in winter) but leaving it down, may not allow the water to drain. It doesn't matter though, as it has to get to 32 degrees to start freezing anyhow.

If you leave it verticle, it drains.

Yes - leave it down and water will drain.

Last nights low 35

Tonight we will be at or below freezing !!!

H E L P !

Thinking of placing a heat lamp on the Yamaha.

Lake is too warm to freeze but the motor not sure.

Just leave it vertical . Do they allow lifts on your lake? Might be something to ponder.

no need to worry about a few hours of mid-20's

My salesperson told me to leave the motor trimmed up out of the water to keep scum from settling on housing or in the water intakes. Is that incorrect or not really an issue? I don't have a lift so my boat sits in the water at the dock.

It's fine out of the water unless it's going to freeze.
