after being sick, the ice storm, no power for 30 hours, a septic back up in the basement we decided to get the boat wet today.

Interesting, the motor started fine at home with flush rig, but after I departed the ramp the overheating alarm went off. Plenty of 2 cycle oil. 20 seconds later it went off. Cruised for an hour and brought it home to the dock. 65 degrees and still snow on the shore.

I'm jealous your out on the water! Enjoy!

Was the pee stream good?

The one time I didnt get up and check coolant frim the pilot hole. Yea, dumb, I know. So answer is I dont know but not sure why the water pump would not pump then start.

Was it spitting water when you had the muffs on??

How old is the motor?

When's last time you had pump replaced?

Watch your 2 stroke oil to make sure it's using it. Just cause you have it, doesn't mean it's pulling it. Johnson had a problem with that years ago with the 2 stroke reservoir. I didn't trust it on my jet boat, so I just premixed it and tossed the reservoir.
