You're going to love this link:

http://www.iboats.com/basics/propeller_basics.html

If you don't know much about props (like me) this is a GREAT page that explains a LOT in very easy terms. Great pictures and diagrams too. For example, I did not realize cavitation was water "boiling" off the back of the prop.

There's a lot more info there than just props. Here's the link to their main Library index page: http://www.iboats.com/basics/index.html

I happened to stumble on this through a Google search, and for the life of me, I still can't find any links to their "library" on the iboats.com homepage. Which is my reason for sharing it here - probably many of you haven't seen it either.

Check it out. Good stuff.

Hi! I am new to the forum, and found it by a search about props. I recently chewed up my prop on a T60 and called Yamaha in Kennesaw about swapping it for a SST...Th Yam rep said I need to stay with the OEM aluminum....any input(14X11 dual thrust) Thanks, Willie

pwillie welcome to the forum. Good link Kaydano.

pwille with a lower hp motor like yours you could switch to SS however it would probably not make much differance as far as performance. There is much debate amongst boaters over the benifits of SS vs aluminum. One advantage of aluminum is they are cheaper to replace when you tear them up.

What kind of performance were you getting with your old prop. Rpms at WOT ( wide open throttle ) mph etc? I would guess that the 11 pitch is probably pretty close.
