Should I coat the toons before putting in the water?

Hi all,

I was wondering what is the preferred product for coating the toons on a freshwater inland lake?

I had the dealer apply sharkhide befor the boat touched the water. My boat stays in the water all the time and I really don't even wash them down very often. When it came out for the winter I was surprised how good the toons looked therefore I would say definitely
