Carl Wagner (CWAG911)

Just catching back up here...... our thoughts and prayer are with Carl and his family at this strenuous time. We’re all pulling for buddy!!

Okay here we go......Carl continues to be on the ECMO machine. (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) This machine provides cardiac and respiratory support to patients whose heart and lungs can't provide adequate gas exchange to sustain life. A literal lifesaver! He was taken into the OR this afternoon to flush out his chest cavity and depending on what the surgeon sees or doesn't see.......Close up his chest which has been open since Saturday. Suzie, his wife thanks all of you for your prayers and support. More to come.........

(Yes he's under there) The ECMO machine totally surrounding him in a special made transport stretcher......The transport team are actually helicopter paramedics who work with Suzie's son ....

My daughter is a pediatric intensive care unit nurse and runs the ECMO team. It is truly amazing technology.

Good luck Carl.

Just catching up on this thread. Carl, we are praying for you to beat the odds!

Each update from Suzi was bringing a increment of small improvement except for the last one just now. There was a setback during efforts to get him off the ECMO machine. He's back on it and they're going to try again tomorrow or the next day.

Best wishes and prayers Carl! Get better soon. We're all thinking about you!

Glenn (Nautical) and I have been kind of numb and in shock with the news that we received from Suzie. We are just going to give it to you straight. Carl's progression has somewhat leveled off. It was found that the damage to the right side of his heart is pretty severe and is not working properly. He also has pneumonia but they are working to clear his lungs. A decision was made to take him off the ECMO machine sometime on Monday. Previous attempts to do so resulted in his BP to fluctuate greatly. The doctors do not expect him to survive. But we'll see. Miracles do happen. We need one now..............
