Rough water package

Our strakes bubbled as well on our last boat.

the main reason I got the sealed strakes was for hydrodynamics, maybe a little better fuel mileage and maybe 1 or 2 MPH gain

You probably get more buoyancy from sealed stakes when at rest too...

OK, I'm gonna ask this again. How can the strakes be sealed, if they're not fully welded?

I was told at the club event the strakes themselves have three walls, almost like a triangle. When they are attached to the toon they are then spot welded to attach. So some water could get in the cracks but not fill the strakes. When mine gets here I'll scope it out closer.

my strakes are completely sealed (welded) all the way around, and then are spot welded to the toon's. the pix don't really show this very good, but if you expand these pix enough, you can see the weld all the way around the strakes !

and yes to kaydano, it probably would add some buoyancy, but a small amount i'm guessing.

Carl, you may have to talk to the Bennington engineers for an answer to that question.
