    Sharkhide, clearing up our misconception!

We mostly fish and drive and not much parking idle is why we don't routinely tackle this. I intended to when we first bought but it's just turned out that we don't anchor much on sandbars. I envy all you guys who are able to keep on this! Best of both worlds (keeping in water AND keeping toons...

    Sharkhide, clearing up our misconception!

Hi Chris! Yes, I think you are right about that. In fact, Clint from Sharkhide said as much. He didn't think SB pads were necessary. Really, what started out as a question about using a product called Easy On Bottom Coating (a "cleanable barrier coating" like a wax to help with cleaning and...

    Sharkhide, clearing up our misconception!

In my Gallery Album: "2 Months on the River" that'll show how much foul attached to our toons in the River (being a factory ordered brand spankin' new boat w/sharkhide applied)! You can certainly see how effective the Sharkhide is on the top! Very nice! and how the bottom half is disgusting! The...

    Sharkhide, clearing up our misconception!

Truth is, we sure thought the SH helped clean up as well. Without any previous experience we don't have anything to compare it to, but, with as much crap that was stuck to our toons (VERY muddy Mississippi) we thought they cleaned up well after season one AND after season two. Wish we had a lift...

    Sharkhide - Yes or No?

YES: Sharkhide IF storing boat on a lift or trailer NO: if keeping boat in the water all season.

    Sharkhide, clearing up our misconception!

Just got off the phone with Clint from Sharkhide and he said that IF we keep the boat in the water all season (like WE DO) Sharkhide will not do any good. It's NOT a bottom paint, it's not an "anti-fouling" product. It's not a wax to prevent algae, moss, zebra mussels, etc. IF you trailer...

    Keeping the Toons Looking Great

FAAbaddog: Sharkhide works IF store boat on LIFT or TRAILER. It doesn't maintain itself if stored in the water. PER CLINT at SHARKHIDE. (just got off phone with him!)

    Keeping the Toons Looking Great

Yes, that's what we decided too. In our case, because the toons are still in good shape, we don't need any JJV or Zing I don't think. It'll just be a re-coat of Sharkhide. For FAAbaddog may it'll depend on how his looks, right? (since he isn't buying new?) Hopefully someone else will be able to...

    Keeping the Toons Looking Great

On a recent search at a marine dealer for in stock Sharkhide (they didn't stock nor use SH) the sales guy said the JJV product is all they routinely use. He said JJV is especially good for mild cleaning. (They also sold gallons of "Zing" which he said is a stronger acid wash but leaves the toons...

Maybe I am being picky. Would you question this?

We had this happen twice with tell-tale sign of oil in the water when motor was down. Turned out, after DIY routine maintenance, we inadvertently tightened the drain plug screw down just a tad too much and it squeezes that little o-ring causing the leakage. TOM-S is right, it should be...

    Fogging the motor

Thanks guys. We're just about wrapping it up and this was the last thing we were considering. Thanks for the continued help!

    Fogging the motor

We have a four stroke Yamaha F150. Do you "fog" the motor when winterizing in the "intake silencer" or a "fogging hole of the silencer cover" till it "smokes"??? Or do you just spray in each spark plug hole to lubricate? Thanks!

    Double bimini headaches

Royo/Link: Thanks so much for the information! : ) (I really wish I would have stuck to my guns in the first place! Of course, can't say for sure I'd be saying this while trying to fish around it, but, who knows??!!)
