We have a 2016 24 XLS with Yamaha F150
Have a line on a 2021 R25 SB with a SHO 250....

What is it worth to make this change??

I would have to say that it is a decision to solely be made by you. Is it a financial squeeze to do, does your boat lack in what you need it to do, or is this just a simple case of PADS

You will gain simtex on the interior which I really like, deeper seats, and a boat that should run around 43 to 45 mph. The negative of an R (I have a 23rsb) is they are heavy. Fuel usage will go up with that.

Don’t know what PADS means. i don’t think anything else enters into the desision. Wouldn’t mind going a little faster…..

I’m sorry, i said that wrong. We can afford to move up if it’s the right thing to do. But maybe should be happy with what we have…..?

PADS stands for Pulled Another Derrick Syndrome. He is member Bulldogs Cadillac from Canada! He is famously known for buying a couple/several Bennington's pretty quickly in succession! Ha! So when a member on this forum gets the "fever" to want another boat or starts looking at other boats to purchase we affectionately call it having or getting........PADS !!! Anyway do you need or want another boat?!? What is wrong with the model you currently have? We had an R I/O for 12 seasons. Just loved it! Plush seats, ran really good, everybody skiied and wakeboarded behind it. It was a solid but heavy boat! It had a 220HP I/O and ran 42mph. Our current boat has a Mercury 150 on it! 1st outboard we ever had. We were worried about dropping 70HP but this boat is much lighter and runs 40MPH and my wife and adult kids still ski and wakeboard behind it! Did you test drive the R?!?

Yes ,and you may be surprised what you can get for your 2016 .
Plus you will still have a remainder on the warranty . That, has to be transferred by an Authorized Bennington Dealer

Obviously, whether it’s worth it depends entirely on you. If you were looking in the first place, it would seem to me that you might not be totally satisfied with your current setup. Or perhaps this option just popped up, causing you to consider moving up. The R is definitely more sexy and will probably be a bit faster, but at what price? If your budget isn’t a big factor, you might want to consider ordering a 2023 just the way you want it.

BTW, I have a 2016 GCW 2574 with a 250 Verado which will do about 41mph.

"Wouldn't mind going a little faster" I started out with a 90 h.p. everyone said "go faster" next Bennington 150 h.p. everyone said "slowdown".This probably doesn't help you but.... Good Luck!

Do you want more luxury and better materials/fit/finish? R25.

Do you need to span large bits of water and get places quicker? R25.

Do you and your family enjoy tow-sports (tubing/skiing/etc.)? R25.

Do you want to save money? XLS.

Worthy of note - my R25/350Verado is easier on gas than my old 2011 RCW/115 Yamaha. I almost never run more than 1/2 throttle with the new boat, and I was constantly wide-open on the old pontoon. YMMV.

I seem to recall opting for the LX build over the R saved me a BUNCH of money, for upgrades that I did not find that interesting, and spent that on more HP (thus it was actually quicker - LOL). There was little difference in the luxury, materials, NO difference in fit or tow-sports.

The R DID provide the running lights in the side panels vs the deck, the one upgrade I liked. The toe kick lights, restyled helm (with no access door) with different button layout, armrest in the front seats, extra usb plugs, and misc items were not that exciting vs the dollars spent on raw HP, IMO. Now, I ordered mine, if I was buying off the lot and did not have to wait 6 months and miss the summer - well then - no question.
