Modifying our boarding ladder....

Had my L knee replaced last May. My advice be sure to do all the PT....PT is very important to get back your range of motion. Nice to finally be pain-free in that knee. Good Luck.
Yup everybody I have talked to has stressed to really go all out in PT so I'll get the range of motion back and recover quicker! Not too crazy about taking all of that narcotic pain relief!

One more rung will be that much more added leverage on that hinge. Hopefully it can handle it
Thx for the thought! Yeah I discussed that with the welder. He says it can handle it! We'll see!

Why not just install the new lillypad ladder - way easier.
Yes I considered it! Like I said earlier I've seen it on another members boat and it looks fantastic and well built! I just need 1 fabricated rung from a local welder here and will be all set! It will have the same amount of steps in the water as the Lillipad ladder but about $1100 less expensive!

Okay couple quick updates....Had knee replacement surgery on February 26th. Went really well or so I thought.......My surgeon installed a Q ball pain pump by catheter directly in my knee and I didn't feel a thing for 3 days! Heaven! But when that pain pump started to wear out running out of medicine......I couldn't take those Hydrocodones fast enough! Long story short I was in pain for the next 5 days and that was it! Started PT and breezed right through even driving myself to PT at week 3. Don't get me wrong it was still really stiff, numb and sore but once the pain goes away it makes it a lot easier! I was able to play pickleball at 9 weeks on May 1st! Update 2....Having that welder add another rung/step to our boarding ladder makes a world of difference especially with a new knee! We now have 6 total steps to board. Money well spent! (Thx to forum member Nautical for installing/riveting the new retrieval strap! Update #3......Forum member potomacbassin has been trying to get me to remove a sacrificial anode that was installed directly in front of my Simrad transducer. Removing it would hopefully produce "clean water" so my Simrad wouldn't drop reading the depth at speed. Well we were out yesterday and removing the anode didn't work. We still lost the depth gauge at around 18 mph. Any other ideas?!?

Amazing isn’t it. Panthergirl had her hip replaced (robot assisted) May 12th in am. Walking (barely) by 3:30. 1st week with walker, week 2-3 with cane, week 4 unassisted and out walking around nurseries (plant! :p).
I read, and she said, walking in was pain level 10, walking out a 3 (exclusive of the “surgery pains”). Technology is crazy.

The main thing is she isn't in pain anymore! It's really amazing what they can do! Did she have to go through any PT? Did she have an anterior procedure?!? I had an anterior hip procedure done in 2021. I was pretty much back to normal in 4 weeks! This knee was a different story......Glad she is running around!!!

I solved my similar transducer problem my moving the unit to the bottom of the mount (original is my Benny, lowered is another Benny).

When you can, please post pictures on that new ladder setup!!!

Did moving your transducer make you NOT lose your depth reading at speed?!? My transducer location is very similar to yours but I lose my reading at about 18mph every time! Yes I will post pics of my extra ladder step/rung next time we go out! That 1 step makes it so much easier to board because it makes it a little deeper in the water!

Yes, prior to lowering the Transducer 15-20 was my max. Now I can hit 30+, 45 in the attached picture! I found a more recent picture of my Benny, seems I lowered it further than the prior picture - mounting the plate as low as possible with the transducer well below the mount plate.

Thx! I'll keep moving it til I get results!
