Hey all, apologies if it's been posted already, but I couldn't find it when I searched.

I still have the 2012 2275 GCW I bought new 13 years ago, and it's time to do some updating. The only thing I can't figure out is how to pull the raised helm off the deck so I replace the carpet with vinyl. My fear is I will have to remove the wave shield- there just isnt a lot of room between the ESP, outer logs and trailer to access it.

Has anyone pulled their boat apart and removed the elevated helm?

I had the raised helm option on a 2011 2275 RCW and while I never removed it, I would have to imagine its through bolted through the decking. So most liklely, you'll have to drill out the rivets and remove the waveshield to access the bolts / nuts.

With a ESP configuration, you might even have to drop a tube? Don't know. Might be worth a call to a local dealer to Bennington directly to see if they have any service information on that type of removal / repair.

That raised helm incorporates the whole seating and console / helm, so it has to be quite beefy in its mounting features to the deck. I can't imagine its just screwed down from the top of the deck.

Keep us posted on what you find out.

All facts. But when I open the under helm compartment, I can’t see anywhere that is wide enough for a nut to receive a bolt from below or any screws from the top. I’m pretty mechanically inclined and this has me stumped. I’m sure I’ll figure it out as I go- I’m just neurotic and like knowing and planning what I’m getting into.

You can call Bennington to find out how they are attached . Their phone number is 888 906 2628. Have your Hull ID when you call.
Good Luck .

The seat should be bolted through the deck. As for the balance, I believe it’s screwed to seatbacks and through the fencing. My 2017 is mounted that way.

Yes. I know the seat is bolted through the deck. The question is, how is the gel coated helm assembly in total attached. I can’t see any fasteners inside or outside above deck. But I don’t see anywhere that fasteners attach to the perimeter of the helm at all, from above or below.

This what a friend of mine who works at Bennington sent me. Just a FYI.

Tell him to try this if he would like before he has to drop the wave tamer. On the starboard side next to the console there’s probably a metal piece that spans 4 or 5 crossmembers that he can take down (drill out the stainless steel popper. It’s with a number 11 bit) by the console between the trim and the skirting for the tube. He will have to use a 7/16 wrench (unless they changed sizes) that is tied onto something to extend the wrench and he should be able to draw the bolts out.

Make sure he goes slow at doing it because those wax nuts love to bind up real fast then you’re gonna have to definitely drop the wave tamer to cut the bolt. It definitely will be tough to do that.

The second option would be to drill out the pop rivets of the skirting on the inside of the starboard tube for the wavetamer. This would give him better access to those bolts. If it’s a bigger person trying to do that they definitely will not want to try to squeeze in between those tubes because it gets tight real fast. Lol
