As a teenager in the mid sixties I remember when Mercury introduced the ‘Tower of Power’. It had 50% more cylinders relative to anything that came before it. At the time the size of it made the motor look cartoonish.

When I went to our local boat show I realized that Mercury had done it again with 50% more cylinders. The visual impact was about the same as what I experienced in my youth. I guess it’s all relative. This new 600 once again looked cartoonish. It was mounted on a Bennington boat. Comments?

Looks like the toons would have to be bigger for increased buoyancy to support a bigger motor like that.

Freakishly big! Not that I wouldn’t love all that HP, but goodness. It just doesn’t look right.

I was able to get a ride on the 600 at the dealer meeting last August. I'll post the video tomorrow

Cool! Holding you to the video post tomorrow. :p ;) Cannot wait to see it. Pretty cool experience?

I may have spoke too quick ,I got a new phone last week and have to search my old .

Because the size of the motor extends downward, it looks much better on a boat in the water, than one sitting on a showroom floor.

As for that video and performance - WOW! That’s simply

Just got back from checking on my boat at the dealer. Some of the boats that they took to the boat show was on the lot....That 600 is a Monster!IMG_20220215_103759034.jpgIMG_20220215_103652311.jpgIMG_20220215_103721444.jpgIMG_20220215_103731810.jpgIMG_20220215_103744293.jpg

I know twin 450s are good for the low 70s, I wonder how fast a 600 will push you? Low 60s? A single 600 must be lighter than twins of any sort...

The one I was on hit 62 in 5 seconds . 5 adults on a 10X28 Bennington QX.
That’s crazy…and we live in an age with these newer performance Tritoons. Imagine someone sharing that performance info to a time travel pontoon owner in the 70’s or 80’s. Ha, ha!

2 450's weigh almost 1400 lbs. A single 600 weighs about 1260. Either way you're going to fly!!!

Looks like goggle time to me! I can pretty much bet that I’m in the minority, but that just doesn’t seem like much fun. I’m all about speed, as long as I have a windshield.

It just about took my glasses right off

I've been on go fast boats many times. Wife lost her expensive Malibu's turning her head at 90 MPH. She even had a strap on, but it was loose.

In the back seat without the protection of the windshield, 70 MPH is the about the fastest you can drink beer out of a can. After that it just runs past your ear.

The fastest I've been is 126 MPH on a 38' Skater with twin 1100 HP motors. (Big Kahuna -- that boat -- Rooster Tail and Cocktails -- lives on your lake.)
