His stern gate has the open top, his bow gate does not.

He was referring to the front gate on the R (full to the top) vs his G that was open at the top, thus my comment on liking our front gate with room for the dog as well.

Funny that this comes up about the hole in the gate. My old Benny had the hole in both doors, and my new one just in the stern. When I was looking at the boat on the lot, a big concern I had was my dogs not being able to look out the front of the boat. I think they are confused on the new boat, because they keep trying to look over it (they are a little too short). I might end up cutting out the top panel in the front if it continues to be an issue.
