I bought a new boat. Completely unexpectedly. You gotta hear this.

It's been several years since I've been on the forum; some of you regulars may remember me. After four seasons with my trusty Bennington 20' SLG dual-log, L-bench pontoon, I FINALLY decided to upgrade. I've wanted a bigger and better boat with a swingback lounge for the past several years (as many of my old 2020 threads indicated), but I could never justify the expense since my SLG was brand new and factory-ordered to my specifications in 2021. Following a series of fortunate and completely unexpected events which I will get into at the end of this post, I wound up purchasing a 2024 Bennington 22' SXSB tritoon that was left unsold from my marina's boat show earlier this year. While my wife and I will enjoy the better ride from a longer tritoon, I'm equally excited about upping my horsepower from a Yamaha 90 to a 200. It'll be quite a jump from WOT 26 mph to 44 mph. I'm also looking forward to the Yamaha digital electric steering and throttle - it will be a whole new way of piloting the boat. The DEC and DES comes paired with a 7" Garmin 743xsv chartplotter/depth finder with Navionics+ and integrated engine connectivity. The new Lillipad ladder looks amazing... easier for us and our pup to enter the boat from the sandbar. Plus, my wife finally gets her co-captain chair she's always wanted. The center in-floor storage will come in handy, while the LED-lit speakers are a nice touch. I had ZERO intention of buying a new boat; however, fate stepped in. My SLG went in my marina slip on April 12, and when I went down to bring the totes full of gear to load her up, my fire extinguisher discharged in one of the totes. What a freakin' mess. I went into the marina to swap out the extinguisher for a new one under warranty, and I just happened to peek in the showroom. Well, there was the 22SXSB just waiting for me to board her. The marina was selling the boat at cost and giving me an incredibly generous trade-in offer for my SLG. There was no way I could say no; this was the deal, and this was time. So, next week, I'll finally have the boat I've always wanted. I'm very happy and excited... and I have a faulty fire extinguisher to thank.

She’s a beauty! Congratulations on your new baby. And, you also get a nice story to tell…

Congratulations on the beautiful new boat. Sure is nice when something like that can fall together. Great story to share from here on out.

Congrats Dave! We bought our last boats about the same time - so glad you found your dream boat. Be sure to stick around this time - great hearing from you again

We are looking to purchase a new 2025 S22 quad seating with 200 hp. Having trouble finding the MSRP. Mind sharing what your price was at cost?

Very nice!!!

Since my wife doesn't read through the forum, I'll have to try that "Exploding Fire Extinguisher" turns into a New Boat Magic Trick. Congrats and enjoy the new boat.

You're gonna love the new boat!
Don't get your expectations too high, you may not see that 44 number. A solid 40 is very realistic though.
Enjoy!
