Key Broken in Ignition

My key broke in the ignition while I as trying to tighten the bolt as the ignition cylinder was loosening
Can’t find a locksmith in wauconda Illinois area to attempt a key extraction- looking for any helpful suggestions

If the key is chrome plated brass as many of them are, try grabbing at the remaining stub with a dental pic, the pic will dig into the brass and allow you to pull out the stump. Maybe two pics, one on each side of the stump and walk it out. Harbor freight sells them.

I'd also try a toothpick and some VERY carefully applied superglue.

A common mechanics tool is a dentist pick. Buy two and lever the broken piece out of the slot. I once broke a key too deep in the slot to pick out. Ended up using a washer hanging from a string to start the boat.
