Prop question

We just bought our new 2021 Bennington tri-toon boat. It has a 150 Yamaha on it. Our question is they did not put a Yamaha prop on it. They put a prop on it that is used with Mercury engines. Does this sound right? It is called a 4 blade Spitfire prop.

As I understand it, new motors don't come with props. Spitfires are good props, it's just a matter of getting the right one. Could be your dealer knows the combo and what works. The question will be if it works for what you want....

Prop brand doesn't matter as much as correct pitch and size for your application. If you're getting the performance you want, I wouldn't sweat it.

Merc makes very good props, in some cases superior to all others. They have a racing division that likely helps with the R&D. I would consider it a gift from your dealer as they could have put a much cheaper option on there.

My Yamaha outboard came with a Mercury prop, too. When I asked the dealer about it, he said just what Potomacbassin' said about R&D.
