Can I lower bimini top by 2" to get under dock roof

Title says it all. Hard to figure which struts to shorten due to all the angles, etc.
Anyone done this or got suggestions?
 
I would think that if you cut them all ( except the short ones) by 2 inches the angles would stay the same. You can contact Bennington and check with them 888 906 2628. Have your Hull ID if you call.
 
I would look at raising the canopy. Certainly easier than cutting up your bimini frame. No way would I do that.
 
Raising the dock roof is not an option, 8" I beams etc involved.

I don't think it would be a difficult task, but I would have one concern about it. The supports are all angled, so but cutting them, you will not only reduce the height, but you would also slightly change the lenght of the bimini framework. Depending on the type of bimini you have, it may cause the canvas to be a little loose with no way to correct for that.
 
why not just drop to trailering arms when storing?
 
I would not mess with it for reasons mentioned. Some of the geometry and bimini size elements are nuances that probably wont turn out well. I am with Semper - why not just lower to trailering position? Frankly, we got a power bimini because originally we were going to be parked on a lift under a canary and I wanted easier push button operation for constant up and down bimini changes.

I have cut down a top. One saw cut leads to another. If you are picky a fabric tuck is also involved. I used ‘c’ clamps to temporarily clamp the tubes at the new proposed pivots. This allowed me to see changes before sawing. Keep in mind that all the hoops must fit in the boot when folded. It’s worth the effort.

Depending on wind and sun direction pontoon tops provide protection only half the time. That’s why people stand up half the time when it is raining. Even after a significant chop of the top the boat will still have an open feeling when you are sitting down.
